Freely Available Information
A Review by Jean Carpenter
If "constitutional questions and remote governmental functions" are being left out of our childrenŐs curriculum, other studies are being included about which we should be aware.
Note, for instance, these excerpts from the NEA Resolutions for 1992:
B-32. Sex Education[NEA] believes that the public school must assume an increasingly important role in providing the instruction. Teachers must be qualified to teach in this area and must be legally protected from censorship and lawsuits.
To facilitate the realization of human potential, it is the right of every individual to live in an environment of freely available information, knowledge, and wisdom about sexuality.
Melvin Anchell, M.D., A.S.P.P., in his thoroughly documented book, Killers of Children -- a Psychoanalytic Look at Sex Education, asks this question:
What of respected scientific opinion that sex education might be "too much, too soon"?
-- Dr. Anchell Killers of Children, p. 11Written from a psychiatrist's perspective of human nature, Dr. Anchell quotes from the work of Freud and others and gives valuable information about the three stages of normal sexual development of the individual. He also discusses what constitutes interference with natural development in each of those stages -- and the results of such interference, which include suicide. According to Dr. Anchell ...
Today's public school sex education -- which, incidentally, Planned Parenthood now euphemistically refers to as 'Family Life Programs' -- is not in accord with natural sexual growth processes occurring in the three phases of human sexual development, thereby making it virtually impossible for sexually educated students to grow into sexually mature adults."
-- ibid., p. 12Contrary to the teachings promulgated by sex educators that perversions, such as homosexuality, are due to 'glandular or inherited conditions,' over 100 years of psychoanalytic observations in real clinical settings have unequivocally shown that adult perverts are primarily a product of premature sexual experiences or seductions in early childhood. This is true whether the seduction is due to actual attacks by a child molester, or whether the seduction is due to overexposure to sexual activities in sex classrooms or in the pornographic media.
--ibid., p. 41During the latency period sexual energy is normally redirected to other pursuits, such as acquisition of knowledge, development of compassion, and strengthening of inborn mental barriers that control base instincts. Forced sexual activity or focus during those years interferes with scholastic ability and the development of compassion and the mental barriers essential for the control of sexual and aggressive instincts.
Dr. Anchell quotes psychoanalyst, Vann Spruniell, M.D., about another aspect of the latency period ...
They [psychiatrists] constantly observe latency ... during latency [6-12 year old], the child develops an inner control system ... during latency, adult communication with him about adult sex is an intrusion into an important and necessary privacy.
-- ibid., p. 44Note today's increase in crime, violence, and sex among preteens -- compared with the fact that children of that age group who have not been sexually disturbed are normally fairly responsible individuals.
Then in the teenage years ...
Many acts of gangsterism, prostitution or criminality in young girls are the consequence of a violent interruption of early puberty with its harmless girl-girl relationships by heterosexual acts for which they are not yet really ready ... Premature heterosexual experiences produce disturbances in the development of a girl's whole personality.
-- Helene Deutsch, M.D., in The Psychology of Women -- ibid., p. 75Dr. Anchell and other psychiatrists attribute to sex education the fact that the number of adolescents hospitalized for depression has tripled since its establishment in schools, and teenage suicide has doubled.
He discusses the vital role of morality from the psychological -- not the religious -- standpoint. Values and standards taught in schools today have nothing to do with morality. Rather, anything goes -- with the only condition: that it be "enjoyed." But, trapped in perversion, the individual is precluded from ever discovering true enjoyment.
Freud gave us warning:
Among the instincts, the sexual instincts are conspicuous for their strength and savagery. Woe, if they should be set loose!
-- Sigmund Freud, in Character and Culture, --ibid., p. 61Instead of "facilitating the realization of human potential," the NEA program achieves exactly the opposite result -- and at what cost to our wallets, to say nothing of the infinitely greater cost to our children, their lives, and their future well-being?
Many will read Dr. Anchell's book and cry, "I've been robbed!" And many will go on to take steps to see to it that their children will not be similarly deprived.
